Koalas not coal event

When: Sunday 3 December 2023, 3-5pm

Where: Merv Anderson Park, Yeppoon

Join us for an afternoon to send a message to government that we need to stop new coal and gas projects if we are to keep a safe climate for us and our environment.

This event is part of a Move Beyond Coal week of action to coincide with the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28). There will be events across Australia – and one here in Yeppoon.

We want to send the Australian COP delegates and the Albanese government a clear message that:

“We need meaningful climate action if we are to stop the demise of our reef, our iconic threatened species like the koala and to protect our lifestyle from the ever increasing severe fires, droughts and floods.”

The aim is to get a group photo with lots of placards and banners to show our support for climate action to share through media, Move Beyond Coal and the Queensland and Australian Governments.

What’s on offer

✅ Have your photo taken with a koala and a dugong

✅ Join in a colourful group photo to share with our government decision-makers

✅ Find about the work our local community is doing to tackle coal, gas and climate change

✅ Enjoy a few nibbles (we’ll have a few plates, but please feel free to bring your own drinks and nibbles to share)

✅ Most importantly, a chance for everyone concerned about the climate change impacts being experienced across the globe to come together and be a voice for our local environment.

It is a family friendly event, so please bring the family and your friends along to speak up for climate action!
