EnvA is hosting one of many ‘Move Beyond Coal actions’ across Australia in the ‘National Rise Up’ actions.
This is a chance for our Central Queensland community to come along and express their concerns about all the new coal and gas projects being approved. Every new fossil fuel project approved is contrary to Australia’s legislated emission reduction targets and the rhetoric of a clean energy future.
Our Central Queensland community voice is really important as we are one of the fastest growing fossil-fuel regions in the country.
When: Monday 6 May 2024, 3.30 – 5pm (May Day holiday)
Where: Merv Anderson Park, Yeppoon (near the Tourist Information Centre)
The plan for the afternoon:
- A short general EnvA meeting where you can find out about how we operate and updates on the campaigns we are working on,
- Join in a group photo opportunity to show that our CQ community wants real climate action, and
- A chance to sign on to a letter our Federal Environment Minister to let her know that we we do not need any new coal and gas projects and that we need stronger environmental legislation.
Bring a chair, a picnic basket or BBQ foods, and drinks if you want to stay on and chat with EnvA and others in our community that care about our environment. Come along and enjoy an afternoon with a purpose!
Together we can show decision-makers that we want climate action now – for the sake of us, our environment and our tax-payer dollar.
