Gas campaigns

Blue Energy

Blue Energy has proposed to develop a greenfield coal seam gas project in the Moranbah/Glenden region of Central Queensland.

If this CSG project is built, Blue Energy would extract billions of litres of groundwater, drill more than 500 gaswells, and lay more than 700km of associated pipelines across Central QLD.

This project is being encouraged by the Queensland government as it provides some justification for spending tax payers money on the Bowen gas pipeline project.

Bowen Basin Gas Pipeline

The Queensland and Australian governments each committed $5 million towards a Bowen Basin pipeline study The study investigated the potential for infrastructure, including a gas pipeline to connect gas reserves in the Bowen Basin to the east coast domestic market and overseas customers.

The Queensland Government is now considering the report to determine the most appropriate next steps for the Bowen Basin pipeline study.

This pipeline will be the start of a huge gas industry in our region which is already over run with coal mines. EnvA does not support a gas led recovery when we need to immediately cut greenhouse gas emissions.
