Queensland government approves new coal mine with permission to clear 770 hectares of koala habitat
The Queensland Government has approved another coal mine – the first for the new year. It is considered ‘small’ in coal production terms, but is ‘huge’ in the area of threatened species habitat to be cleared.

Qld Government recommends the approval of the huge Winchester South coal mine
The Queensland Government is set to approve an enormous new coal mine in the Bowen Basin. The mine covers more than 2000ha including increasingly important threatened species habitat. It will also produce more greenhouse gas emissions that we really can’t afford if we are to have a safe climate future.
