Rise Up: 12 days of action for no more coal or gas

Move Beyond Coal are organising actions across Australia for communities to express their concerns about all the new coal and gas projects being approved – despite the approvals being contrary to Australia’s emission reduction targets to keep global warming to 1.5 degrees celcius .

This will be a chance for us to get invoved in the national 12 days of action bin one of the fasted growing fossil-fuel regions in the country.

Details are still to be finalised, but we are hoping to hold a multi-pupose event between 29 April and 10 May 2024.

The Queensland Government is set to approve an enormous new coal mine in the Bowen Basin.

The mine covers more than 2000ha including increasingly important threatened species habitat.

It will also produce more greenhouse gas emissions that we really can’t afford if we are to have a safe climate future.
